Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson told URN on Saturday that police has entered a case of aiding aggravated defilement against the couple.
A couple from Kigumba
in Kiryadongo district is in trouble for negotiating the release of a man
accused of sexually molesting a six-year-old girl.
Innocent Oryek Owor and his wife, Hope Topista Kunihira were arrested from
Laliya Village in Laliya Sub County in Gulu district on Friday and locked up at
Gulu Central Police Station. They were transferred to Kiryadongo Police Station
in Kigumba in Kiryadongo
district on Saturday afternoon.
They were arrested while meeting the mother of a six-year-old pupil who was
sexually molested by 20-year-old Edwin Asiimwe from Kigumba in March this year.
The victim’s mother tipped off police that the couple wanted to negotiate with
her to secure the release of their son who was locked up at Kiryadongo Police
Station for aggravated defilement.

the couple. The victim’s mother says the minor implicated Asiimwe for sexually
molesting her while at school after she noticed that she had developed
swellings in her private parts. The victim was staying with her relative
in Kigumba and returned to Gulu when government suspended school operations
because of the covid19 pandemic.
