Peter Kibikyo, the LC I chairperson Lwaba village suspects that the coupleâ€™s house could have set ablaze deliberately.
Fire has gutted a house in Bugiri district burning an elderly couple beyond recognition. The incident occurred last night. The deceased have been identified as 70-year-old Constant Bitura and his wife 60-year-old Beatrice Kagoya, both residents of Lwaba village in Kapyang Sub County.
The bodies of the couple were found inside their house this morning. Peter Kibikyo, the LC I chairperson Lwaba village suspects that the couple’s house could have been set ablaze deliberately. Kibikyo says the couple has had a longstanding dispute with their son John Dhikusoka over a three acre piece of land.
Dhikusoka reportedly wanted to sell off the land but met stiff resistance from his parents. Edirisa Kyeyune, the Officer in charge of Bugiri Central police station says investigations are ongoing to find those behind the arson attack. The bodies of the couple are at Bugiri main hospital for a post mortem.
