The High Court in Arua has issued a warrant of arrest for the
former Arua Municipality Parliamentary Aspirant Nusura Tiperu.
Tiperu is accused for failing to pay election petition costs worth
83 Million Shillings.
The warrant of arrest was signed by the Assistant Deputy Registrar
of Arua High Court.
“This is to command you to arrest Hon. Nusura Tiperu the Judgement
debtor to pay to you the sum of UGX 83,880,400 together with the sum for costs
of executing this process and bring her to court with all convenient speed,”
reads the warrant.
In September 2018, Tiperu petitioned the High Court, seeking
nullification of Independent candidate Kassiano Wadri’s victory. She sued Wadri
and the Electoral Commission, claiming that the Wadri and his agents incited
violence while the EC registered non-residents for the election.
In March, Justice Anthony
Oyuko Ojok dismissed the petition with costs on
grounds that Tiperu failed to convince the court that there were irregularities
in the electoral process.
On Thursday, Wadri said that together with his Lawyer Donato Kania,
they have been expecting the money for the last six months in vain.
