The High Court Civil Division has ordered the Lwemiyaga County MP, Theodore Ssekikubo to settle his academic dispute with the Law Development Centre outside Court.

Justice Henrietta Wolayo issued the orders in response to a petition filed by Ssekikubo challenging his exclusion from the 27th graduation of the Law Development Center.

In his April 27th petition, Ssekikubo wanted court to issue interim orders blocking the graduation, saying his name was missing from the graduation list because of failing the Civil Litigation and Corporate and Commercial practice papers yet some of his course mates who had failed more papers were set to graduate.

However, court declined to grant him the interim orders. The High Court Civil Division Registrar, Sarah Langa, dismissed the application on grounds that it lacks merit.  This morning, Ssekikubo's main application came up for hearing.

In his prayers, Ssekikubo wants LDC to admit that it was an error to exclude him from the graduation and give his academic transcript. He also wants LDC to compensate him the costs of the suit.

But this morning, Justice Henrietta Wolayo directed LDC's lawyer, Fox Odoi and Ssekibubo's lawyers, Caleb Alaka and Mohmed Mbabazi to go through mediation and save court's time.

She also directed LDC to present to court an affidavit from the LDC Director and the marking guides they used for the recent graduates by Monday next week.

According to Justice Wolayo, it's upon receipt of the required documents that she will notify the court registrar to appoint a judge to handle the mediation. The warring parties are expected to report back to court on the mediation process on July 3rd, 2018.

Ssekibubo told URN outside the court that he is okay with the mediation, adding that all he wants is justice and his academic papers showing that he passed LDC exams.
