Jinja High Court has upheld the appointment of David Musenze, as the Jinja district land board chairperson.

The order which was issued on Friday by the Jinja High Court deputy registrar, Fred Waninda. It followed an application that was filed by Musenze, after the former Minister of Lands Betty Amongi wrote to the Chief Administrative Officer directing him to nullify the appointment.

Among also criticized the manner in which he was elected. She argued that Musenze’s election was irregular since he was being investigated on allegations of being involved in several land scandals.

Musenze was last month endorsed as Chairperson by majority councillors and later sworn-in by the Chief Administrative Officer.

Waninda also directed all law enforcement agencies to ensure that Musenze is provided with a favourable working environment to perform his duties.

Musenze replaces Innocent Ndiko Ngobi who resigned in September.

Her resignation came at a time when the Commission of Inquiry into Land Matters was probing circumstances under which five hectares of land on plot 24B were fraudulently allocated to Thummar Jay Patel without involvement of the respective stakeholders.
