The school
situated in Kasese town was early last
week ordered to shut down immediately following a dispute with its landlord,
Nyakatonzi Cooperative Union.
The Kasese Municipality town clerk, Geoffrey Bamanyisa ordered the closure of the school, saying that during the inspection that was done at the school, it was discovered that the school does not meet the basic requirements and minimum standards stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Sports.
The dispute revolves around ownership of the land
on which the school is built.
Nyakatonzi Cooperative Union claims to have
leased the property to the school, but the school administration has failed to
pay rent for the past eight years, resulting in arrears amounting to 90 million
shillings.
