Nwoya District Coronavirus Task force is stuck with 244 liters of expired milk delivered by the Office of the Prime Minister-OPM for use in its Corona virus quarantine centers.

According to information by our reporter, Nwoya district received 100 boxes of 500milliliters of milk on April 15, 2020 from OPM for distribution to Corona virus suspects and patients. However, the milk was remaining with a few days for expiry on May 5th, 2020.

Patrick Okello Oryema, the Nwoya District LC V Chairperson, says they only served six liters of milk to six people quarantined at Anaka Pope IX in Anaka Town Council.  He however, says the remaining milk is past its expiry date. He says they now intend to dispose it off, saying it might be harmful to human health.

The Nwoya Resident District Commissioner, Agnes Akello Ebong who chairs the Covid19 Task Force, says a decision will be made on Sunday on what to do with the expired milk. He says it would be unfair to dispose of the milk when some people are struggling to find what to eat due to Covid-19 lock down.

Pamela Oroma, a resident of Nwoya, says her immediate need is relief food for herself and her six children. Uganda has 114 confirmed Covid19 cases.
