Cricket Cranes Set for Castle Lite Tour in Namibia

The Uganda National Men’s Cricket Team, the Cricket Cranes have been flagged off to take part in the Castle Lite Tour in Namibia.

Sarah Chelangat, a member of the National Council of Sports (NCS) Committee flagged of the team during a ceremony which took place at the headquarters in Lugogo today.

The Tour slated for April 6-15th will help the team prepare ahead of Cricket World Challenge League B tournament in June which will be hosted in Uganda, and the T20 World Cup qualifiers due in Zimbabwe in July.

While in Windhoek, Namibia, the Cricket Cranes are expected to play a Series of two 50-Over matches and three Twenty20 matches, against high-ranked Namibia as they shape up for T20 world cup qualifiers later this year.

Martin Ondeko, CEO of the Uganda Cricket Association urged the players to use the meeting well to prepare for other events. The administrator also thanked the National Council of sports- NCS for supporting the Cricket Cranes.

Team head coach Lawrence Mahatlane said the tour will boost his side ahead of the busy schedule adding that they have gone through enough preparations before traveling to Namibia for the meet.

Team captain, Brain Masaba said his side is composed of new faces that will be making their debuts, and he expects that they will be a good addition as they start their busy schedule.

The NCS official Chelangat applauded the Cricket Cranes for the previous good performances and urged them to continue with the zeal to represent the country.

The team is supported by Kasai Plascon who entered a two year sponsorship contract with Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) to sponsor the Men’s cricket team.
