The Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) has threatened to suspend its operations in Abako County, Lira District.
The threat stems from a demonstration on Monday in which a group of farmers staged protests against the alleged inflated prices of farm inputs supplied by DANIDA.
More than 100 people most of who participated in the construction of a 6km road stretch from Oyengo-lwedo to Alebtong. The road was funded DANIDA, under the restoration of agricultural livelihood in Northern Uganda (RULNAC) program.
Under the program, DANIDA was expected to provide farm implements as payment to the workers.
But hell broke loose when some people learnt that DANIDA supplied maize seeds at a far high cost, compared to the existing market price.
In addition, the workers complained that DANIDA has failed to provide sufficient inputs to all people who participated in the road construction work.
But Christopher Odongo, the RULNAC Northern representative, says DANIDA is not happy with the trend of events. He warned that the Danish organization will not hesitate to withdraw support for the improvement of agricultural infrastructures in one of the regions that was hard hit by the LRA insurgency.
Odongo advised members of community and the local leaders to desist protesting against projects that are crucial to the development of their areas.
