Anna Grace Lalam is a prominent NRM carder who has opted to contest as an independent against the party’s constitution gives the flagbearer the responsibility of representing the party in case of any by-election.
Candidates
aspiring to fill the vacant position of the woman member of Parliament in
Dokolo District are not bothered by their physical strength and party constitution.
Several
women including those from opposition political parties like Forum for Democratic
Change (FDC) to which Imat Cecilia Ogwal belonged and others from National
Unity Platform (NUP) have expressed interest in occupying her seat.
Although
NRM as a party already have a flag bearer in Dokolo, the majority of the
candidates who have expressed interest are independent- leaning NRM. For
example, Anna Grace Lalam is a prominent NRM carder who has opted to contest as
an independent against the party’s constitution gives the flagbearer the
responsibility of representing the party in case of any by-election.
She argued
that her party's flag bearer is too weak and unfit to hold the flag in this By-
election.

Similarly,
Beatrice Molly Abang is the district NRM chairperson who has opted to run as an
independent against the party’s constitution. Abang believes that with her
experience in district council, she is better placed to represent the party.

On the
other hand, Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal, daughter to the Late Cecilia Atim Ogwal is
unbothered by questions regarding her residential belonging and physical
strength considering the fact that she is walking on crutches. She says people
peddling such sentiments are not patriotic.

Alwoc who is

FDC ticket is in the race to continue her mother’s legacy.

Meanwhile
in National Unity Platform (NUP) where two people; Harriet Ageno and Christine
Acen Otom has expressed interest in contesting, Michael Adonyo, the party’s
coordinator in Lango says they are considering backing up the candidate who
will be fronted by Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party.
