John Bosco Asea, the DP candidate in Lugazi town council bye-elections has taken an early lead.
Preliminary results indicate that Asea has polled 2686 votes from 20 out of the 26 polling stations in the town council.
Asea is followed by NRM's Deo Tumwesigye in second position with 2247 votes.
An independent Edward Musoke, is in third position with 171 votes, while UPCs Yahaya Aluma Masa is fourth placed with 29 votes.
Ahmed Musoke and Martin Lwanga polled 17 and 10 votes respectively.
The Former Lugazi Mayor Hajji Said Mubarak died in a motor accident last year.
Meanwhile in Rubaga division Pastor Peter Sematimba is in the lead.
Preliminary results from Najja Parish II indicate that Sematimba has polled 392 votes, while DPs Erick Makumbi is in second position with 328 votes.
FDC's Joyce Sebugwawo is third placed with 223 votes, followed by Justine Sendikadiwa with 30 Votes.
Opposition supporters are distraught with the poll results and have started accusing government for influencing the poll results.
NRM supporters in Bulwa and Musigula zones have already started jubilating on the streets. DP's Mwanga Kivumbi blames the opposition's failure to win the seat to lack of cooperation.
According to Mwanga opposition parties failed to compromise on a single candidate to take on Sematimba.
