Democratic Party youth members on Friday stormed
the party headquarters in Mengo disrupting the National
Executive Committee-NEC meeting.
The members allege that the meeting is intended to sack Sulaiman Kidandala, the
party organizing Secretary.
The NEC is being attended by the President General, Norbert Mao, Alex Chesang from Sebei
region, Paul Kakande the Publicity Secretary, the DP Secretary-General
Gerald Blacks Siranda and Mukasa Mbidde among others.
Fatuma Nassali from Kawempe Corner Zone says they were forced to storm to
meeting to support Kidandala. She says Kidandala is being fought because he is
a People Power leaning supporter.
//Cue in: "Naye Mao ayagala..."
Cue out: "...uewaggude ku DP"//
Ben Mukasa Ntale from Kawempe II Zone accuses Mao of disrupting the electoral process.
There has been confusion in the party when some registers were recalled by Kidandala
saying they had been illegally distributed.
On Sunday, Mao issued letters to DP district leaders to disregard any other
registers except those in white colour yet Kidandala had issued green registers.
Police has been deployed to keep calm at the meeting. Members have
been asked to remain outside the headquarters.
