DP’s Fred Kasirye Declared Kassanda LC 5 Chairperson Elect

According to the official results, Kasirye polled 23,945 votes defeating his National Resistance Movement-NRM rival Ziad Kalema Katongole who got 20,007 votes. The final tally excluded results from Kyamukasa polling station in Mbiriizi Sub County because of massive rigging.
Fred Zimula Kasirye, the Democratic Party candidate is the Kassanda District LC V Chairperson elect. 

The Kassanda District Returning Officer, Aidah Barekye declared Kasirye elected after collecting 50.3 per cent of the total votes cast during the local council polls on Wednesday.

According to the official results, Kasirye polled 23,945 votes defeating his National Resistance Movement-NRM rival Ziad Kalema Katongole who got 20,007 votes.

The final tally excluded results from Kyamukasa polling station in Mbiriizi Sub County because of massive rigging.

Barekye cancelled the results following complaints of massive rigging by Kasirye who has polled 53 votes against Kalema’s 460 votes although there are only 453 registered voters at the polling station.

Kalema has been serving as the interim LC V chairperson of Kassanda district that was operationalized in 2019.

Shortly after being declared winner this morning, Kasirye commended the people of Kassancda for entrusting him with the leadership of a young district and promised to work towards its prosperity.

He said as a farmer, he would ensure that agriculture is given more priority to encourage residents to embrace it and boost their incomes.

Kasirye also promised to devise means of not only creating new jobs but turning the existing ones into becoming profitable.
