There was drama at the UMA main hall in Lugogo when agents of different candidates in Kampala forced the Electoral Commission to announce parliamentary results.

The agents said that the Commission was delaying to announce the winners especially for the Kampala Central parliamentary seat.

They said that whereas the media had already announced Muhamed Nsereko as winner for Kampala Central, the Electoral Commission was hesitant to announce all the results from the polling stations.

They argued that most districts had already announced the results and yet Kampala.

Candidates including Moses Kasibante for Rubaga North, Mubarack Munyagwa for Kawempe South, Kato Lubwama for Rubaga South, and Allan Ssewanyana from Makindye East were seen trying to calm down their agents but in vain.

However, some of them were seen moving back and forth from the returning officer's desk inquiring how they were fairing.

Charles Ntege, the Kampala district Returning Officer found it hard to convince them as he cited challenges with the computer.

After about 40 minutes of a scuffle, the Electoral Commission was forced to start reading out some results for Rubaga, Nakawa and Kawempe but skipping Kampala Central. This drew more uproar among the agents.

The situation normalised when three police officers intervened threatening to throw some of the agents out if they didn't keep calm.

Meanwhile, the incumbent Kampala woman Member of Parliament Nabila Naggayi Sempala is leading with 51,720 votes, followed by Kinaabi Asia Nabisere with 31,280 votes,  Democratic Party candidate Nakiwala Kiyingi has 19,937.

Lukwago Shifra has so far garnered 18,710 while Aidah Nakuya has 6,112. Magimbi Joania Mirembe trails with 2849.

These are from 334 out of the 1,338 polling stations.
