A police constable attached to Mukono Police Division is admitted at CPR medical
center after being assaulted by drunkards in Nama Sub County.
The Deputy Kampala Metropolitan
Spokesperson, Luke Owesigire, says Gerald Mulokozi was part of the patrol team
that had responded to an emergency on police vehicle registration number UP 2619.
He, however, says that on their way
back, they found several bars in the area in violation of the suspension by President,
Yoweri Museveni.
“As they tried to encounter
them. Stones started flying from all over. He was hit on the head and he lost
his radio call,” he said.
Adding that “13 people including the bar
owners have since been arrested in connection to the attack. We have been able
to recover the Walkie talkie from the defense secretary.”
He, however, says Mulokozi is out of danger.
Meanwhile, Mukono Police Division has cracked down on people flouting the COVID-19
guidelines in an operation targeting bars, restaurants and cinema halls.
