Electoral commission has bounced Baker Matsiko, the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC candidate in the Bukanga MP by elections over lack of the requisite academic qualification. Matsiko was bounced on Monday after he showed up for nominations with a catering certificate.

Jotham Taremwa, the Electoral Commission public relations officer says that the catering certificate presented by Matsiko was not equivalent to the Advanced Level Certificate of Education.

Four candidates have duly been nominated for the Bukanga MP seat. They are Jeremiah Birungi Kamurari, Jackline Asiimwe Matovu, the daughter of the late Gregory Matovu, the former MP, Nathan Byanyima, and Abel Tumusiime Nshangeki, all independents. Steven Kangwagye, the NRM candidate is scheduled to appear for nomination at 11:00am this morning.

Kangwagye accuses Nathan Byanyima, who contested in the NRM primaries for ganging up with the opposition to betray NRM. However, Byanyima who represented Bukanga in the 9th parliament says that he decided to contest as an independent because he was dissatisfied with the manner his victory in the NRM primaries was quashed.
