Engineer Badru Kiggundu, the Electoral Commission chairperson says they are yet to receive a letter from the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party booking the nomination date for its presidential candidate.

Kiggundu was responding to threats by the Forum for Democratic Change to drag the Commission to court for reportedly denying Dr. Kizza Besigye the opportunity to be nominated as a presidential candidate on November 3rd at 10 am at Namboole Stadium.

FDC threatened to go to court after it emerged that the ruling National Resistance Movement-NRM party had booked the same time for nominating its presidential candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Kiggundu says they have never received a letter from FDC seeking to book a nomination date for its presidential flag bearer.

According to Kiggundu, they will operate on first come first serve basis. Sam Rwakojo, the EC Secretary instead blames the FDC for wrongly addressing its request to him instead of the Chairman.

Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the FDC spokesperson insists they were the first to book the nomination date. “We sent this letter to EC as an institution. Why should they claim that they did not receive this? Kiggundu is an aide of Museveni so what did you expect of him? We shall meet them in court,” Ssemujju says.

Nomination for presidential candidates is scheduled for November 3 and 4 2015 from 10 am to 4 pm at Namboole Stadium. So far, eleven aspirants have returned their nomination forms. Out of these only four have been cleared.

They include NRM's Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, FDC\'s Kizza Besigye, Dr. Abed Bwanika of People\'s Development Party (PDP) and an Independent Amama Mbabazi.
