Edward Ochom Appointed Police Director of Operations

Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola has appointed Assistant Inspector General Edward Ochom to replace retired Operations Director.

Edward Ochom has been appointed the Director Operations of the Uganda Police Force.  

In the radio message passed on Tuesday afternoon and later confirmed by police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the Inspector General of Police Martin Okoth Ochola made changes in three directorates. 

Ochom who has been director research replaces Asuman Mugenyi whose contract expired over the weekend. Mugenyi had served in the police force for 32 years.

In other changes, AIGP Andrew Soroweni has been moved from directorate of general duties to the directorate of Welfare and Production.

"He is for operations and AIGP Soroweni is for welfare," Enanga said.

It is reported that AIGP Ochom has handed over office to his deputy Senior Commissioner of Police Ochaya.

AIGP Mugenyi served his last day in police uniform on Friday, May 29th and temporarily handed over to his deputy John Nuwagiira.

Some earlier reports indicated that AIGP Mugenyi had been suspended and others claiming he had been fired, police spokesperson, Fred Enanga, clarified that he had served his contract.

“He simply observed his contract to the end,” Enanga said.
