An elderly woman in Omoro district has drowned in a swamp. The deceased is 65-year-old Ventorina Ayaa, a resident of Oratido village in Lukwo parish Odek Sub County. Her lifeless body was recovered from Odek swamp on Wednesday morning.
According to information obtained by our reporter, Ayaa left her home in Palaro parish in Odek Sub County at around 2:00pm on August 6, 2018 and crossed to Oratido village in Lukwo parish where she found people drinking at the LC's home and decided to join.
After drinking, Ayaa left for her home at 4:00pm in Palaro parish. The deceased's son, Quinto Ojara, says after leaving the drinking joint, people thought she had arrived home.
However, they realized Ayaa was missing the next day and launched a manhunt for her in vain. He says they found her body in Odek swamp with injuries on her arm and legs.
They immediately notified Odek police post, which rushed to recover the body. Flavia Acayo, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations Department in Omoro District, confirmed the incident, saying they had commenced investigations.
