Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA law enforcement officers were today engaged in hide and seek games with street vendors in the new and old taxi park.
Despite the massive eviction of street vendors from the taxi park last week, most of the vendors returned to the very spots this morning to conduct their business as usual.
Our reporter saw a number of vendors operating in front of standard supermarket in the old taxi park despite the destruction of their stalls last week. Some of the vendors told URN that they are operating while on the lookout for the law enforcement officers.
Our reporter also several vendors selling a variety of stuff such as
groundnuts, popcorn, water, sodas and scholastic materials in front of Paaka Enkadde mall in Old Taxi Park.

URN also talked to a vendor selling beverages who was found running from KCCA enforcement officers along with five others around Pioneer mall. According to the vendor, despite the fact that he was arrested and fined, he can't stop coming to the streets since he has nowhere to go.

Robert Mwesige, another vendor says although Government wants them to go to Usafi and Wandegeya markets, there are no customers.

Government through the ministry of Kampala issued a trade order directing all the vendors to vacate the streets and relocate to Usafi and Wandegeya markets. However, the KCCA political wing led by Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago passed a resolution allowing the vendors to operate on selected streets from 5: 00pm to 10:00pm daily.
