Ex-Cranes Players Tip Hippos to Defeat Tunisia in U-20 Afcon Semis

Uganda Hippos will be facing North African based team Tunisia in semifinals of the ongoing Total U20 African Cup of Nations in Mauritania on 1st May 2021, however Uganda has been failing when it comes to facing North African Countries in the past meeting on both junior and senior levels.

Former Uganda Cranes players have tipped the Uganda Hippos to reach the knockout stage of the African Cup of Nations.

The Hippos will face Tunisia in the semi-finals of the Total U20 African Cup of Nations in Mauritania on Monday. However, Uganda has been failing when it comes to facing North African opposition in the past meeting on both junior and senior levels.

Jackson Mayanja, former Uganda Cranes player and KCCA FC legend says Uganda Hippos needs to score an early goal and also avoid conceding earlier, the veteran says it will be hard for Uganda to have a comeback if they concede first.

Andy Lule who captained Uganda Cranes in all African games in 1999 says Uganda stands a bigger chance against Tunisia because the North African team no longer has good players as they had before. He adds that the players need to be composed and have confidence.

Uganda sailed past Burkina Faso into storm Semi-finals while Tunisia eliminated Morocco in their quarter-finals. This is the first-ever time Uganda is reaching semi-finals at a youth championship at a continental level.

Uganda has never played Tunisia at a junior level however the two countries have met five times on a senior level with Tunisia emerging winner on all occasions.
