There is excitement in Kanungu, the home district of independent presidential candidate Amama Mbabazi, ahead of his campaign rally. URN saw hundreds of resident from various parts of the district flocking Kanungu town council early this morning to welcome their own.

Some of the residents rode on bicycles and motorcycles while others walked on foot singing pro-Mbabazi songs. Mbabazi is expected to address a campaign rally at Kanungu District Grounds. Alex Akankwasa, one of the coordinators of Mbabazi's campaign team in Kanungu, told URN that they are very happy to host their son.

Johnbosco Mugisha, another voter in Kanungu Town Council says all attempts by the ruling National Resistance Movement to blackmail Mbabazi before the residents will not work. According to Mugisha, government has deliberately ignored the roads in Kanungu so as the dupe residents that Mbabazi has not delivered, which he says is false.

Kedress Asiimwe, another believes that the time for change is now adding that Mbabazi has all it takes to cause the needed change in Kanungu and Uganda as a whole. Asiimwe says the ruling government has taken Ugandans for granted for too long, which must come to an end.

Despite the huge number of people flocking Kanungu Town Council, our reporter didn\'t see any sign of Police deployment in the town and rally venue like the case has been in other areas. There was mini drama involving supporters of Presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni and those of Mbabazi.

It all started after Emanuel Magezi, the former Kanungu Town Council LC V councilor led a team of NRM supporters to distribute Museveni's campaign posters, a thing that didn\'t go down well with the Go Forward team. The supporters of the rival camps started engaging in a cat and mouse game.

Amama Mbabazi is expected to address his first rally at Kanungu district grounds in Kinkizi East before holding another in Kihihi town council in his constituency.  On Wednesday, Mbabazi campaigned in Kasese district where he received an overwhelming reception.
