Express FC, Uganda’s representatives to the forthcoming 2013 Cecafa Kagame Club Championships are drawn to face defending champion Young Africans of Tanzania. In the draws made this afternoon at the Corinthia Hotel in Khartoum, Express were drawn in Pool C alongside Young Africans, Ports (Djibouti) and Burundi’s Vital’O. The tournament to be played in the States of North Darfur and South Kordofan will take place from June 18 to July 2.
Nicholas Musonye, the Secretary General of the Council for East and central African Football Associations (Cecafa) who was flanked by other Cecafa officials and Sudan Football Association officials said they hope to have a good event. He said they are very happy with the preparations by the host state and are sure the tournament will be a success.

Sudan’s Al Ahly Shandi who participated in the 2013 CAF Confederations Cup together with Kenya’s Tusker FC, Falcons (Zanzibar), Al Nasir of Sudan and Al-Hilal Kadugli of Sudan are in Group B that will play in North Kordofan. Express FC will be based in Darfur, while Group A that has Merriekh El Fasher from Sudan, APR-Rwanda, Simba-Tanzania and Somalia’s Elman will also be based in Darfur.
Express will play their first game on June 20th, before facing tricky Burundian side Vital’O two days later. According to the draws, the quarter finals will be played starting on June 28th. Cranes striker Hamis Kiiza will have the chance to turn his guns on Express FC.

Sudan’s national team Coach Muhammad Mazda who attended the draws told Uganda Radio Network that although top Sudanese sides like El Merriekh and El Hilal will miss out on the tournament, the other three teams have what it takes to challenge for the title and shouldn't be underrated.
