Family of 25-Year-Old Man Killed in Bunyangabu District Demand Justice

It’s alleged that Atuhaire was allegedly beaten by David Akugizibwe the proprietor of Avenue Gardens bar and others accusing him of stealing a music system.

The family of a man who was killed in Rwimi Town Council, Bunyangabu District are seeking justice.

Fahad Atuhaire died on Sunday after being dropped by unknown people at Rwimi Police Station in critical condition.

Atuhaire was allegedly beaten by David Akugizibwe the proprietor of Avenue Gardens bar and others accusing him of stealing a music system.

However, the family members have tasked the police to investigate the circumstances under which Atuhaire died.

Yasin Juma, the deceased’s brother, says that Atuhaire left home on Saturday afternoon after receiving several phone calls from unknown people to find them at Avenue Gardens Bar. He says that they were shocked on Sunday to be told that had been killed.

 Juma said they have received conflicting information regarding his brother’s death and wants police to ensure they get justice.

The family explained that the post-mortem report from Fort Portal Regional Hospital indicated that Atuhaire’s skull was damaged and suffered internal bleeding.

Maureen Asiimwe another relative has asked the police to expeditiously carry out investigations to apprehend the key suspects in the incident. She also wants the police at Rwimi to be investigated for acts of negligence after failing to refer Atuhaire for medical attention on time.  

Gilbert Nyaika, the Officer in Charge Bunyangabu Central Police Station says that they have obtained statements from witnesses and the police are doing all possible to ensure culprits are apprehended.
