Police in Kiira are investigating circumstances, under which a senior four student, identified as Willy Isabirye 21, was killed and his body dumped at the Mailo-mbili roundabout, along the Jinja-Kamuli highway, in Jinja city.

Isabirye was killed on Thursday night after he was hit with a blunt object in the head. Isabirye who was also a boda boda rider is suspected to have been killed from another location and dumped at the roundabout as a coverup. His motorcycle was also stolen.

Maxwell Nimrod, a shop operator in the area says that Isabirye's remains were retrieved near a business area, with several petrol stations, which employ armed guards and operate 24-hour surveillance systems, therefore, he could not have been killed in the same location.

Dennis Paapi, the deceased's brother says that police should expedite investigations into the death of Isabirye.

Paapi says that his brother had dropped out of school during the COVID-19 pandemic, and last year he rejoined secondary school in a bid to catch up with the current O'level curriculum. He said that it is high time for the justice system to reign against suspected criminals.

Ivan Mutyaba, another relative says that their family is devastated following the death of their younger brother, whom he describes as a man of great intellect and enthusiasm who wanted to pursue his dreams.

The Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, James Mubi says the police are using cameras to gather evidence and are following up on leads.
