The deceased are identified as George Magonde 70, his wife Faidi Kakibimba 61, together with their in-laws Kate Kyomugasho 35, Annet Kamazaare 41 and Betty Mwesigye 45. They were traveling from a colleagues wedding in Kyabazaala when the tragedy occurred.
Shock has again gripped residents of Buyanja village in Lyantonde district after a family of five people drowned in River Kacheera. Initial reports indicate that their vehicle, a Toyota Premio No. UAR 548H veered off the bridge into the river. All persons aboard are confirmed dead.
The incident happened last night at Kacheera-Lyantonde Bridge, about 5 kilometers from Lyantonde town.

Eyewitnesses say that Magonde tried to dodge the big rocks in the middle of the bridge but lost control of the car.
Richard Bamwine, the Lyantonde Traffic officer confirmed the incident. He has advised the Lyantonde-Kacheera road users to be careful while crossing the bridge since it was ruined by torrential rains.
A total of 13 people have died in fatal accidents that occurred since May 2016 in the area.
On May 19, six family members died in a road accident at Namajuzi swamp near Kyabakuza, Masaka–Mbarara highway.
The family was traveling in a Toyota Corona car registration number UAG-121L when it rammed head on with a Toyota Fuso UAV-177K killing all six instantly.
