Family of Kirumira Murder Suspect Decries Delayed Investigations

Halima Kalungi, wife of the suspect, says when her husband was taken to court she thought that investigations had been completed and prosecution would proceed. However, she says that whenever he is brought in court, the case is adjourned.

The family of Abubakar Kalungi, the suspect in the murder of former Buyende District Police Commander Muhammad Kirumira and Resty Nalinya Mbabazi have expressed concern over the delayed investigations.

Kalungi, a 47-year-old carpenter and resident of Mirimi Zone, Makindye-Ssabagabo in Wakiso district, is the only suspect arrested in connection to Kirumira's murder.

On Wednesday, the Grade One Magistrate Martin Kirya further remanded Kalungi to Kigo till December 3rd.

Halima says that after the arrest of her husband, she has been struggling to look after the children.  She explains that she is surviving on donations from well-wishers.
