However, information obtained by our reporter in Kaberamaido indicates that Esep was angry with his son over alleged acts of theft. According to our reporter, sources in Ajikdak village say that Esep had complained that his son had made him pay a fine of 50,000 shillings after he (son) was caught stealing fishing nets in Abirabira.

On the fateful day, Esep is reported to have told some people in the village that he would kill his son because he caused him problems in the village.

The mother of the deceased, Beatrice Nakiria sorrowfully narrates: “Around 1:00am, my husband called his son to go with him to go fishing in the lake. But before long, Esep returned home alone and was quiet. He started dressing up in clean clothes and that is why I asked him where he was planning to go late at night. I was shocked when he told me that the boy had been attacked by a crocodile.”

The body has been transported to Pallisa district where Esep's ancestral home is for burial after the postmortem.
