FDC Supporters In Early Celebrations in Kasese Elections

Supporters of the Forum for Democratic Change candidate, Winfred Kizza are celebrating the victory of their candidate, who has won in some polling stations in Kasese Municipality.

The supporters thronged the streets on learning that Kizza had won in some polling stations in central division, Kasese Municipality. They waved tree branches and chanted ‘no change’, while others blew whistles, accompanied by boda boda cyclists.

Some of the polling stations that Uganda Radio Network visited where Kizza won include Bishop Masereka polling station, Ruwenzori square polling station, and two polling stations at Kilembe quarters and at Nyakasanga playground polling station.

The ballot boxes from the polling stations are now being transported to the main tallying center at the district headquarters at Rukoki in Kasese Municipality.

Despite yesterday’s violence, the elections went on peacefully without any cases of violence reported.

However, Salaamu Musumba, the FDC vice president was detained by Police and some FDC suppotrters claimed they had failed to to cast their votes because there weren’t in the voter register.

The army also blocked Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) agents from accessing some polling stations in Kasese district.

Major Rubaramira Ruranga was also blocked from accessing two polling stations at Hima army detach, in Hima town council.  The army detach, is the headquarters of the 305 brigade.
