Major General Mugisha Muntu, the   Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party president, says they will challenge the decision by President Yoweri Museveni to transform the Special Forces Command (SFC) into an autonomous army.

The SFC is an elite force, trained to guard the President, the first family and key security installations in the country. However, there are reports that president Museveni intends to transform SFC into an autonomous force.

Certain media reports also claim that Museveni promoted his son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba from Brigadier to Major General to pave way for him to head the new force.

However, Major General Mugisha Muntu, a former commander of Uganda People's Defense Forces, says transforming SFC into an autonomous force requires parliamentary approval.

//Cue In: You can't have two armies...

Cue Out:...a home//

He also  told journalists at parliament where he had escorted two FDC legislators to swear in that Museveni promoted his son out of panic. Reagan Okumu, the Aswa County MP, says he table the matter when the 10th Parliament starts business.
