Forum for Democratic Change -FDC's Amuru LCV Chairperson Michael Lakony has appointed Martin Akera of the National Resistance Movement -NRM party as district Vice Chairperson.

Akera has been the LCV Councilor for Amuru Town council.

Akera, who did not contest in the just concluded general elections has been serving as the secretary works, technical and community services since 2016. He is now replaced by Lucy Adong, the Amuru Sub County LCV women councilor who was serving as the secretary finance, planning and administration since 2016.

Michael Lakony the district LCV chairperson says he appointed Akera to that position as reward for the hard work he has been doing to help the district develop.Akera`s appointment was confirmed on Wednesday this week during a full council meeting at the district headquarters.

According to Lakony, despite coming from the NRM party yet the district council is majorly being run by members of the opposition FDC party, Akera has been very objective in his work.

It is widely believed that Akera's total dedication to service with aversion to partisanship is the main reasons he chose not to contest in the recently concluded elections amidst pressure from his party members for his working closely with the opposition members.

Cue out …. hard working councilor”//

Denis Rom, the district speaker from the opposition FDC party says the Chairperson`s decision is an indication that even if the district is majorly dominated by the opposition party, they are still objective and impartial for purposes of development.

Akera says he will continue to work objectively and resist the pressure that comes from his party that he supports the FDC rather than working together with his colleagues in the NRM party.

In October last year, the district councilors rejected Lakony`s proposal of Apollo Okello, the Amuru sub county LCV councilor to replace John Bosco Ochan who was sacked just months before this year`s parliamentary elections.

Amuru district is one of the districts in Acholi sub region that is heavily dominated by FDC. For example, all three MPs in the district including Anthony Akol, Gilbert Olanya and Lucy Akello are all from the FDC party.
