Few Surprises as New Cabinet is Announced

The Speaker of Parliament, Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi has this afternoon announced the new Cabinet.
The new Cabinet has kept the status quo of 68 ministers.
The three ministers who were implicated in the Global Fund scam, Jim Muhwezi, Alex Kamugisha and Mike Mukula have been dropped from the new Cabinet. Other ministers missing from the new cabinet include the former minister in charge of Luwero Triangle Beatrice Zirabamuzale, Mary Mugyenyi, and the former minister for trade, Nabetta Igeme among others
Former Prime Minister Eriya Kategaya has bounced back, ending speculations about the possibility that he would decline a ministerial appointment after he was dropped from the cabinet.
By and large there are a few surprises in the new Cabinet announced this afternoon. Some of the lawmakers joining the Cabinet for the first time include the Kabale Municipality MP, Serapio Rukundo, the Baale County MP, Sulaiman Madada, Ephraim Kamuntu a former minister in the late Obote's Government and Kagimu Kiwanuka former Bukomansimbi MP.
Some of the ministers retained in the Cabinet include Janat Mukwaya, Ruhakana Rugunda, and Beatrice Wabudeya.
It still remains unclear as to what portfolios each of the new ministers is holding because the list sent to the speaker of parliament did not indicate the respective portfolios.
