Fifty grass thatched huts have been burnt in a revenge attack in Ojemoru village, Soroti District.

Violence erupted after angry residents invaded the village to avenge the death of their relative Robert Ebieu on Thursday night.

The deceased was killed after a fight ensued between him and the other gamblers that led to his death. 

Moses Emwalu, the acting Chairperson LC3 Oculoi sub-county, says that he received a call on Thursday night that one person has been killed at a drinking joint in Adamasiko trading centre.

Emwalu said he reached the scene between 10-11:00 p.m. before reporting the matter to Olwelai and Katine Police Posts respectively.

Michael Odongo, the East Kyoga Police Spokesperson says that so far 22 people have been arrested to help in the investigations.

John Enomu, the district councillor representing Katine sub-county in Soroti district council condemned the act of revenge and said the aggrieved parties should have sought help from the police.
