More than 40 carpenters are counting losses after fire gutted carpentry workshops in Kasese Municipality. The burnt workshops are located in Kilembe quarters.

Tom Baluku a proprietor of one of the burnt workshop says that
some of the destroyed properties belonged to their clients.

Lillian Atuhaire says that she has lost her investment,
adding that it will be hard for her to start life afresh after losing
everything she invested in the workshop.

Moses Kimole says the fire started from one of the workshops where
the electricity meter box is fixed. He estimates to have lost over 30 million
shillings.

The Kasese District Police Commander Wilfred Bagenda says that they contained
the fire from spreading to other places although the damages were grave.
He says they have launched investigations to establish the possible
cause of the fire.
