Police puts off fire at Ibun baz boy's secondary school dormitory

Fire has gutted the boys’ dormitory of Ibun Baz Secondary School in Nakigo Sub County, Iganga district.

The fire which occurred on Wednesday started when students were attending a patriotism club at the school.  It destroyed mattresses, metallic suitcases, books, among others belonging to 52 students. 

Students together with police fire brigade jointly put out the fire before it spread to other dormitories.

Mohammed Mwaita, the school’s director says that they were notified by the smoke which formed around the dormitories.

Mwaita adds that none of the students sustained any injuries however, he says that the school management committee will liaise with parents to ensure that, whoever lost property is compensated.

The Busoga East Police Spokesperson, James Mubi says that police is investigating the cause of fire.

Mubi also says that the Police Fire Brigade is carrying out sensitization drives within different schools safeguard against fire outbreaks.
