17 South Sudanese refugees in Madi Okollo District have been arrested following a fist fight on Friday that left one person dead.

The fight reportedly broke out at Agulupi Cluster in Yoro Base Camp between Liki and Fatak clans after a girl from the Fatak clan was allegedly impregnated by a boy of the Liki clan.

According to information obtained from the police at Rhino Camp, the brother to the girl identified as Chol who stays in Bidibidi camp in Yumbe District on discovering that his sister was pregnant went to follow up the matter.

However, on arrival at Agulupi, he inquired about the family of the boy. However the relatives of the boy responded by picking a quarrel which ended in a fist fight.  Chol was hit on the head and later rushed to Ocea health centre III where he died shortly on arrival.

Josephine Angucia the police spokesperson for West Nile region says police managed to arrest three of the suspects while five others were arrested hours later and taken to Rhino Camp Police station before they were transferred to Arua CPS where they are currently detained.

Angucia further explains that seven other suspects who had fled to Siripi Camp for fear of being arrested were on Saturday apprehended by the police of Yoro.
