Flying Squad Arrests 4 Suspected Cattle Thugs in the Albertine

The Police Flying Squad Unit has picked four suspected cattle thieve in Albertine region.      

The suspects are Robert Nyesige, a resident of Bulemezi in Nakasongola district, Fred Akanijuka, a resident of Munsambya in Kyankwanzi district, Samuel Mwesigye, a resident of Kyankwanzi and John Talemwa, a resident of Kiseke in Igayaza town council Kakumiro district.

The suspects were rounded up in three different operations conducted over the weekend in Hoima and Kakumiro districts. They are in custody at Hoima Central Police station.

Flying Squad operatives also impounded a Super Custom vehicle registration number UBD 194C that the thugs were using to execute their mission.

According to Hakiza, the suspects have a bigger network across the country. He called on the cattle farmers to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons in their areas.

He says the suspects will be arraigned in court for cattle theft.

Statistics from the Albertine Police Criminal Investigations Department indicates that more than 200 cows were stolen from the region between December 2019, and February 2020.
