a member of the former Arrow Boys Militia Group in Teso is collecting
signatures for his nominations to challenge President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in
the 2021 general elections.
Ebetu, 39 who hails from Amuriat district served as a medical officer of the
defunct Arrow Boys militia that was established in the early 2000s to flash the
rebel Lord Resistance Army-LRA from Teso Region. He is among the 58 aspirants
who have shown interest to run for the presidency in 2021 general
intends to contest as an independent and is currently traversing Acholi Sub
Region to gather signatures from not less than 100 registered voters in each
district as required by the Electoral Commission for his nomination.
He told URN
in an interview in Gulu on Sunday that he has embarked on a journey to restore
sanity in the country. He explained that his intention is to unify the nation,
fight corruption, build the economy, reinstate cooperative unions and ensure
the compensation of war claimants.

noted that top on his agenda is job creation by establishing industries in
every regional city in the country, peaceful transfer of power through
democracy and amending the constitution to provide immunity to the sitting president even after leaving power.

Ebetu explained that the lack of immunity to power holders in the country after
leaving office is responsible for the overstaying of some leaders for fear of
being exiled or attacked. This he says has made the country go through violent
transition of power since independence. Asked whether he trusts the Electoral
Commission, Ebetu said he is truly contented with the operations of the electoral body.

Ebetu is a holder of bachelor’s degree in Agri-Business, Administration,
Development Studies, Theology and Management among others. Lawrence Newton
Opiyo, the Coordinator of the Ebetu’s Campaign and Mobilisation team disclosed
that they have so far gathered signatures from electorates in Teso, Lango,
Busoga and Acholi Sub Regions.
