Former Bufumbira North MP Loses in Kisoro NRM Elderly Polls

Former Bufumbira North member of Parliament, Hon. Philip Ntacyotugira in Kisoro district has today suffered defeat in the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries for special interest groups.

Ntacyotugira who is also the former Kisoro District Service Commission Chairman had contested against the incumbent Epaphrah Byariyehe, on the district male councilorship seat representing elderly as the flag bearer.

In an election that was held at Kisoro district Yard in Kisoro municipality, Ntacyotugira garnered 17 votes, while Byariyehe polled 18 votes to be declared winner. Ntacyotugira served as Bufumbira North Constituency MP from 1996 until 2006 when he lost to Silver Bahane. He also served as the Kisoro district service commission chairman from 2006- March 2020.

After losing, Ntacyotugira conceded defeat and promised to support Byariyehe in the general elections for the good of the party.

Meanwhile, Rose Manirakiza, the incumbent Kisoro District LC5 vice chairperson retained her seat unopposed as the district female councilor representing the elderly.
