Former Soroti Municipality Member of Parliament Charles Willy Ekemu has died.
Ekemu who served as the Soroti Municipality Mp from 2006 to 2011 succumbed to cancer of the liver at his home at Seeta, Mukono, a day after he was discharged from Nsambya Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
Ekemu, who trounced former minister Mike Mukula in 2006, served for one term and lost it again to Mukula in 2011. He attempted to contest for the Ngora County parliamentary seat last year but lost in the FDC primaries.
Soroti district MP Angelina Osege (FDC) described the deceased as a committed and objective leader who served at the time when the region wanted effective leadership.
“I don't think he was poor at his work much as the voters never voted him back to parliament.”Mp Osege noted.
