The former Headmaster of St. Balikudembe Secondary school in Mpigi district has been arrested for fraud.
Charles Ssebunya, who was St. Balikudembe Secondary school Headmaster in the 1990s, was picked up this afternoon by Rapid Response Unit operatives.
He was found in a health club at Vienna Guest House in Masaka town.
Asuman Muwada, the Masaka Rapid Response Unit commander, said Ssebunya has been on the wanted list since 2007.
It is alleged that Ssebunya fraudulently obtained 51 million shillings from a group of teachers in Masaka district on separate occasions.
He reportedly obtained the money while promising to sell to the teachers Riverside Secondary School located in Kyabakuza in Masaka Municipality.
He was dragged to the police by two teachers identified as Michael Okopa and Juvenile Tumwesigye.
The teachers sought police intervention after they discovered that Riverside school did not belong to Ssebunya. Noah Serunjogi, the Southern Police Public Relations officer has confirmed the arrest.
He says Ssebunya who is detained at Masaka Central Police station is also accused of selling fake land titles to a group of teachers in Masaka.
Serunjogi says Ssebunya defrauded 8 teachers in the fake land transaction. According to Serunjogi, Ssebunya will be charged with fraud and obtaining money by false pretence.
