Former Bumayoka Sub County House
The former Bumayoka Sub County house in Bududa district has been lying idle for 12 years since the acquisition of a new home immediately after the split that created two - Bulucheke and Bumayoka sub counties.
Bumayoka got a new home 12 years ago after the ministry of local government constructed for them new sub county offices and staff quarters.
Now residents in the sub county are complaining after the former sub county headquarters have stayed for many years without being in use.Stanley Wakoli, a resident, said recently he found a boy and a girl in one of the rooms of the sub county at night while he was on his way home.
He said he chased them away on realizing that the house was hosting such kinds of activities.
Moses Wamono, another resident said he is worried that the house could host thieves given the fact that it is left open oftentimes.
Apollo Nebute another resident said some of the installations, like taps have been vandalized because the house is not in use. He asked the sub county authorities, to have a plan for it.
Moses Siisa, the Bumayoka Sub County Chairperson, said they intend to make the house a health centre following the government pledge of giving every sub-county a health centre.
Bumayoka sub-county is one of the sub-counties without health centres. He says currently it is a sub-county property that is under supervision by the sub-county leadership.
But before the building becomes a health centre, it is promoting some unhealthy activities.
