Fort Portal city Principal Education Officer interdicted

Richard Alituha the fort portal principal education officer has been interdicted from duty with immediate effect over misappropriation of funds.

According to the letter issued by the Fort portal city town clerk Kagaba.R.Ndora dated 19th January 2023, addressed to the principal Education officer Mr Alituha it is alleged that in the financial 2020/2021,the victim was involved in the misappropriation of capitation grant worth 180 million Uganda shillings which was meant for various institutions in the city.

In his letter to the embattled  principal education officer , the town clerk further indicates that his office has been reliably informed of the ongoing investigations by both the directorate of criminal investigations in liaison with state house anti-corruption unit on the alleged misappropriation of the funds.

Kagaba .R. Ndora says his office had subsequently received communication from the permanent secretary ministry of local government dated 13th January 2023 directing him to have the principal education officer interdicted from duty to allow the ongoing investigations to proceed without any interference.

“The purpose of this communication is to bring to your attention provisions of section F-r part 14 of the Uganda public standing orders 2021 which provides for disciplinary procedures, and section 12 of the public service act,2008 which states the obligation of public officers in relation to public service”.

"acting under the Uganda public standing orders 2021 section F-r 24 and 25 your here by interdicted for 6 months with immediate effect to allow investigations in the alleged misconduct above. your therefore requested to step aside so as not to tamper with the ongoing investigations”. the letter reads partly.

Richard Alituha becomes the second city civil servant to be interdicted in less than two weeks over abuse of office and misappropriation of funds, on 05thJanuary 2023 the town clerk interdicted the city senior Human resource officer Ms. Edna Darlin Kihunde on allegations pertaining gross financial mismanagement, payment of ghost workers, incompetence and use of abusive vulgar language among other Anomalies.
