Fort Portal Municipal Councillors have resolved to petition Local Government Minister Tom Butime to intervene in the political woes that are threatening the management of the area.

The resolution was based on a motion moved by Enock Byakagaba, the Councillor representing Bazaar Ward, backed by Charles Mayanja, the councillor of Kitumba ward in  East Division, Fort Portal Municipality. It was made during a council meeting held Friday at the municipal council offices in Boma.

The Councillors accuse the Mayor Rev Willy Kintu Muhanga of incompetence, lack of leadership skills, arrogance and failure to present the State of the Municipality address before the council.

Charles Mayanja points out that Muhanga mismanaged the town, undermines resolutions by the council and has caused financial losses to the town by failing to enforce collection of revenue from contractors, among other things.

Joram Bintamanya, the councillor representing South Division equally observed that by repeatedly snubbing council meetings, Muhanga is undermining the people of Fort Portal municipality.
