The Physical Planner Fort Portal Municipal Council, Olivia Bahwayo Busobozi, has been interdicted over bribery allegations.

According to the interdiction letter written by the Town Clerk Fort Portal Municipal Council, Godfrey Bamanyisa, it is alleged that Busobozi solicited a bribe of 10 million shillings from M/S Don Uganda Limited so that she approves the physical plans for the construction of a fuel station along Tibeyalirwa Road in Fort Portal municipality.

“In accordance with Sections F-S Paragraph B of the Uganda Government Public Service Standing Orders 2010, I hereby regret to inform you that are interdicted from the exercise of powers and functions with effect from 1st March 2019,” reads part of the letter.

It is further stated in the letter that Busobozi should immediately write a handover report and take it to Bamanyisa's office. She is also directed to handover her office to Fort Portal Environment Officer, Gladys Natugonza Mirembe.

According to Bamanyisa, Busobozi will be receiving half of her salary, and will not leave Uganda without permission from her superior, Mirembe.

Efforts to get a comment from Busobozi about the interdiction have been futile as our repeated calls were neither received nor returned.

The Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations Department at Fort Portal Central Police Station, Godliver Twinomugisha, says she has already received the complaint and investigations are on-going.

Busoozi has been restrained from going to her officer until investigations are completed.
