Jeff Sebuyungo, the Bugiri District Police Commander, who declined to identify the suspects, says that, they were arrested on Saturday and are being detained at Bugiri central police station. He says that the suspects recorded statements and the information shall be useful for the progress of this case in the investigations.
Four suspects have been arrested in connection to the death of
Sheikh Masuudi Mutumba.
Mutumba was last night shot dead at his home located in Busimba
village, in Iwemba Sub County. Police has so far retrieved one cartridge which
has been handed over to the police forensic department for further
investigations.
Jeff Sebuyungo, the Bugiri District Police Commander, who declined to identify

He added that the police have gathered leads to the prime suspect who will help
the police understand the motive of the shooting.
Mutumba’s eldest son, Hamidu Kajja says that Mutumba has been
having land disputes with his neighbours and that the court ruling will be
delivered next week.
"Our father is battling a court case over a 100-acre piece of
land, and we were expecting a Jinja High Court ruling next week, it is sad
that, he was killed at a time like this, let police investigate this matter
thoroughly and give us Justice," he says.
Meanwhile, Hamza Waiswa, the Iwemba LC III chairperson says that
efforts to reconcile the two warring parties failed at mediation stages as they
continued to threaten one another.
