Police in Rukungiri district has arrested four students of St Francis Buhunga High School for setting the school laboratory ablaze. The four have been identified as, Dismus Abaho, Alexander Nasasira, Allan Niwenyesiga and Kasiita Sharif.
The suspects, all senior four students, are alleged to have set a blaze the school laboratory at around 5 a.m. on Monday.
Anacaleti Twinomugisha, the head teacher of the school says that the suspects were identified by fellow students who were heading for morning classes. He adds that although the fire was contained, a number of equipment in the laboratory was destroyed.
Twinomugisha says that the four have been threatening to avenge the suspension of their colleague Sharif Kasiita over indiscipline.
Sylvia Kasoga, the officer in charge of Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department at Rukungiri Central Police Station says that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
The development comes days after the closure of St Gerald's Secondary school Nyakibaale and Makobore High school Kinyasano following violent clashes between students.
The fight occurred when a group of students of St. Gerald's invaded Makobore High School allegedly to avenge for the fire that had destroyed their property on July 21. The students claim that the fire, which injured one of the teachers, was ignited by their arch-rivals at Makobore High School.
Five students of St Gerald's were seriously injured during the clashes.
