Four Cattle Rustlers Held in Otuke

Otuke District Police Commander Edson Birema identified the suspects as Lumuge Teko, 25, Nathlineora Linga, 29, Napathia Apakareli, 29, and Apajiwai Kiyonga, 32, all from Kotido district. The suspects are now held at Otuke Central Police Station on charges of theft.
Four people, suspected of stealing cattle have been arrested in Otuke district. The suspects are accused of rustling 27 cows from Apyenpwot village, Otuke district about two weeks ago.

Otuke District Police Commander Edson Birema identified the suspects as Lumuge Teko, 25, Nathlineora Linga, 29, Napathia Apakareli, 29, and Apajiwai Kiyonga, 32, all from Kotido district. The suspects are now held at Otuke Central Police Station on charges of theft.

Otuke Resident District Commissioner Robert Abak said that the suspects were arrested by the UPDF at Napumpum Army Detach in Kotido District. The army also recovered 17 out of the 27 animals that had been stolen, and have since been handed over to the owners.

Otuke district has recorded five cattle raids by the suspected rustlers since the beginning of the year with a recorded loss of more than 40 animals. Two suspects were arrested and subsequently remanded to Otuke Central Prison in early January 2019, over the theft of 16 animals from Ogwete Sub County.
