Innocent Byamugisha said that the driver of the small car was in the wrong as he tried to overtake from the wrong side of the road trying to enter the road from parking.
The two vehicles involved in the accident
Four people have perished in a fatal accident along the Mbarara Ntungamo Highway in Rwampara district. The accident occurred around 1 pm at Rugando trading centre.
One of the deceased has been identified as Sulaiman Mutimba, the driver of Isuzu Bus registration number UBG 789J. The other victims are two Juveniles and one female whose identities weren’t readily available by the time of filing this story.
Justin Opus, the Rwizi regional Traffic Officer, says the accident involved a bus and Nissan Datsun car registration number UAE 907H whose driver identified as Joseph Gumisiriza was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
Opus said that preliminary investigations show that over-speeding was the cause of the accident though inquiries were still on.
Peter Mushabe, an eye witness says both the bus and the small car were heading to Mbarara but the small car entered under the bus on the left side, the driver of the small car died on spot inside his car.

“The driver of the car was parking on the side of the road so as he tried to enter the road he rammed into the bus that was heading to Mbarara on the left, the bus went over it in the front,” he said.
Opus said that the two vehicles were towed to Mbarara Police Station Yard.
The accident comes barely months another claimed two police officers attached to Bushenyi police station the accident occurred at Karungibayi, along the Hima Kasese Road.
