about a planned robbery in Kabowa near Kampala University on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police,
security operatives tried to intercept the suspects who were driving in Toyota
Wish registration number UBE 808F and Caldina UAN 368H in vain.
This led to a chase and a gunfire exchange with the security
team. The officers cornered the suspected thugs at Mutundwe hill and shot them
dead.
They have since been identified as Stephen Wandera from Mengo, Lameka
Mayanja from Kabalagala, Dick Mugalu from Makindye and Ismail Segirinya, whose
residence is unknown.
According to police, security recovered a star pistol
registration number 32002896 old model, Toyoto Wish number UBE 808F and two bundles
of Fake Dollars.
Police say efforts are still underway to trace for other
members of the criminal gang believed to be on the run with 2 submachine guns.
